It’s just unfair, isn’t it? You join the club that no one wants to join, get the "gift" of a condition with no off-switch, and find out it's expensive too. Did you know that a few years ago, JDRF estimated it costs an extra $4,777 per year out of pocket just for the basics? Ouch.
It is unfair. And every day, we see incredible people miss out on the support they need, delay appointments, or settle for services that aren’t quite right because of the financial burden. That's not okay with us, and we're doing something about it! That's why we're absolutely thrilled to announce a special trial to make diabetes education a little easier on the wallet!
We're offering bulk-billed, 20-minute diabetes education appointments for members of our tribe who are doing it tough financially. Because access to support shouldn't be a luxury – it should be a given! And that support should be from people who get it. People who live and breathe type 1.
These 20-minute appointments are a new trial for us, and we're excited to see how they go. We think they’ll be great for getting a little boost, a helping hand, a "we've got your back" moment. They’re definitely not the whole solution, and not right for everyone, but we're excited to try them out and see if they fill a need.

⏰ Limited Spots Alert! Bulk-billing funding for diabetes education is LOW (that’s a whole ‘nother advocacy issue!), so we are only able to offer a precious few slots each week. Get in quick!
💬 Focused & Fabulous: These 20-minute sessions are designed to zoom in on one specific thing you need help with. Got a burning question about carb counting? Need a refresher on managing your blood sugar levels during the holidays? Let's tackle it together!
✅ The "Must-Haves": To qualify, you'll need a current Chronic Disease Management Plan from your GP and a Healthcare Card or other concession card.
🤝 For the Tribe: These quick, sharp, focused appointments only work once we've gotten to know you, your goals, and your diabetes challenges. You’ll need to have seen one of our amazing clinicians already to be eligible.
📝 By Application Only: We need to make sure that a short, sharp appointment is right for you. Fill in our bulk-billing request form and tell us what you’re looking for.
💌 Keep Your Eyes Peeled: We'll be in touch to let you know if we can offer you a bulk-billed appointment or what other options we might have.
Short & Sweet Support! Remember, these bite-sized sessions are perfect for those moments when you just need a quick chat, some expert advice, and a little bit of encouragement to keep diabetes in the backseat where it belongs.

Connect with our amazing clinicians and let’s see how we can support you. Book an initial 1-hour assessment (unfortunately, we cannot offer bulk-billing for this session). Once you've completed that, you can apply for the 20-minute bulk-billed appointments (subject to meeting the requirements above, of course).
We truly wish we could offer bulk-billing to each and every person impacted by type 1 diabetes. We will continue to advocate for better access to services like ours. But please understand that our dedicated clinicians have limited availability for these special spots, and we'll be prioritising them for those facing genuine financial hardship.
