HBF Run for a Reason: Edie & Giselle Ewers

Edie Ewers
Edie Ewers

Two and a half years ago, the Ewers family’s world changed with a type 1 diabetes diagnosis for little Edie, now 6 years old. As Edie’s father AJ describes, every day has its challenges and type 1 never takes a break.

Connecting with the Family Centre through Kids in the Kitchen and Family Camp have provided support, social connections and community, along with valuable resources for families like Edie’s who need to constantly make health decisions every moment of the day.

This year, The Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre will be the Ewers family’s reason for taking part in the HBF Run for a Reason, where they will join with over 37,000 participants raising funds for causes close to their hearts. Edie’s 9 year old big sister Giselle will run the inspirational 12km – her longest run yet - accompanied by her Dad AJ, and Edie will participate in the 3km distance - accompanied by her Mum or Aunty - whoever she thinks will go faster with her!
